What’s Up – May 14th 2020
Welcome to What’s Up, our weekly blog where we’ll recap everything that’s happened in the past week and talk a little about future developments. In What’s Up this week:
- Anthony, Benjamin and Gary Carmine Out Now!
- Poetic Justice Weapon Skins added to Carmine Bundles
- Gears 2 Curbstomp Released
- Gears Tactics Title Update 1
- Gnashers Only FFA & New Hive ‘The End’
We promised we were starting this week of with a bang! Yes, as of now, Anthony, Benjamin and Gary Carmine are available to earn or purchase in Gears 5. Our favorite bit? Our Narrative Team continue to deliver the goods with Carmine dialogue interactions as you play in MP!
For those of you who picked up the Carmine Bundle, there was a description in the Store that listed some incorrect content in the bundle – the Poetic Justice Weapon Skin set. As this was listed on a purchasable item, we added the Poetic Justice Weapon Skin set to both the Carmine Bundle and the Deluxe Carmine Bundle. We have since added the weapon skins to anyone that purchased before it was added. If you purchased the Bundle on release day and still do not have the skins, drop a ticket in with Support.GearsofWar.com and we’ll help you out.
The other big part to this release was that the Carmines are only being available in Versus at this time. This is a shift change for us, one of many in the works, where we’re redefining elements of the game to improve the overall gears experience.
In this case, we have scrapped the mandate that new characters can only be released with PVE abilities and new Arcade setups. We also revealed that PVE players will eventually get to use any character in PVE, and while it’s a little early to talk details, know that it’s part of a bigger initiative for PVE that will also address some of your concerns too.
In case you missed it, we FINALLY got that Gears 2 Curbstomp into your hands. You can pick up the el classico Gears 2 Curbstomp just by logging in before Tuesday, May 19th.
We know the next execution in your sights is the Longshot Home Run Execution, which thanks to being incorrectly marked Tour of Duty, has actually been visible before it should have been. Leaks abound!
The good news is you’ll be able to earn the Home Run Execution in the coming weeks in a certain much-beloved sniper event. Stay tuned.
Gears Tactics got its first post-launch Title Update this week to address community flagged issues since launch – with another update on the way to address remaining issues.
You can get the full update notes and a look at the issues we’re working to address next here.
While the headline in Gears 5 this week is all Carmines, there’s some great content to get stuck into this week too with the arrival of Gnashers Only FFA and a new Hive where you start next to the end. Yeah, really.
That’s it from us this week. We’ll be on our Developer Stream today at 3pm PT to talk a little more about the Carmines and answer your question about this change in approach to Characters among other things. Come join us, would you?
See you there.
